Sono state annunciate le candidature dei tredicesimi Satellite Awards, i riconoscimenti consegnati dall’International Press Academy, che aprono alla stagione delle premiazioni, che hanno il loro apice, con la notte degli Oscar.
Dominatore assoluto, con nove nomination, è Australia di Baz Luhrmann. Concorre a cinque riconoscimenti, escluso quello come miglior film, ma incluso quello per migliore attore non protagonista a Heath Ledger, Il Cavaliere Oscuro.
A proposito della sestina per il miglior film dell’anno, ne fanno parte: The Millionaire, The Reader, Milk, Frost/Nixon, Revolutionary Road e Frozen River. Come miglior film straniero, infine, è candidato alla vittoria finale anche Gomorra: la pellicola di Matteo Garrone dovrà vedersela con Caramel, La Classe, Lasciami entrare, Reprise e Sangre de mi sangre.
