A dominare in fase di nomination è Winter’s Bone, che ottiene sette candidature e supera rivali più accreditati quali Black Swan, fermo a quota quattro con Rabbit Hole e Greenberg e e 127 Hours (in lizza per il miglior film, la miglior regia e il migliore attore protagonista).
